Dear Family, On behalf of the 1968 class we wish to tell you how sorry we are to hear about the death of your husband and father. He was a great teacher and showed compassion to all while keeping that lovely smile on his face. May God guide you through this sad time. !968 L.C. Mohr High School Class

I am a secretary at the high school and worked for years with Mr. Lewis. He truly was a gentleman beyond measure with a sense of humor that was limitless. He would come into my office and after our daily banter with one another, I would tell him, "OK, go to your room now"; and he would chuckle and be on his way. He was a dear, sweet friend that will be missed more than words can possibly express. His beautiful smile and the extraordinary twinkle in his eyes will always be remembered. I thank God for having such a blessing in my life as to cross the paths of Richard and Lorie Lewis.

Dick Lewis is the reason that I became a special education teacher! I observed his patience, love, and compassion as I attended So.Haven H.S. back in the 60's. I was very honored when he asked me to continue his special education program at the high school when he retired in the 90's. Dick was my mentor, and I pray that we have been able to carry on his legacy in the So.Haven Public Schools. My heartfelt sympathy goes to Lorie and the family. I will miss him deeply! I was a custodian here at the High School while Dick was teaching, and I always enjoyed talking to him, and see him working with the kid. The place hasn't been the same since he left. Dick was a great man, and will be truly missed. My Sympathy to you Lori, and your Family, you know he is in a better place.

Dear Ones, I was so sorry to hear the news. That was a lovely obituary and I learned many things about Mr. Lewis I did not know which helps me to understand him better.(Like his generousity to others.) One aspect of him you forgot to mention was his kindness to children. When I was growing up in our neighborhood he was always especially nice. I noticed that again as a mother when my child, Alley discovered the Lewis's. My love to you all, Vandy

Dear Mrs. Lewis and family, I had Mr Lewis in sixth grade. But my fondest memories of him were from Monroe Park. At the time he was my brothers 6th grade teacher. Many nites after supper we (my friends and I) would go to the park to swing. Well, one time Mr Lewis was there and asked me if I wanted a push, that was the beginning of our friendship, I couldn't go high enough, I remember how he laughed at me, said I would go over the bar if he didn't stop. He had a wonderful smile, was a very kind man. He will be truely missed. Peace be with you at this time. Sincerely, Cathy

Dick was a great teacher, both at school and at the First United Methodiat Church! He was the kind of person that a teanager could sit down and talk to, knowing he would understand your problems. He really cared about people, and was always there to listen. He will be dearly missed.

Dear Lorie & family, We are so sorry for your loss. Dick was such a unique person; so friendly, giving, and curious about life and people. He showed such a genuine interest in people & family. We'll never forget how he held a conversation with Annie on your boat...and gave her as much of his time as he did us....just a remarkable human being! With sympathy, Betty & Bob Tomlin

Dear Lorie, Angie and I are so happy we were able to spend time with the family. Thank you so much for including us in the after-service activities. We will miss our Uncle Dick so much, but I know it is a great relief to all of you that he is no longer suffering. Knowing that he had such a great zest for life, it is clear he wouldn't want to go on as he was. I am sending hugs and kisses to you and hoping to have an opportunity to see you again very soon. Love you bunches!!! Laura
