Susie, you and I have a million memories, from preschool right on up to October 2006. I remember when you were a tiger for Halloween at "library school" when we were four, and when you spilled your jelly beans in Mrs. McCain's kindergarten class. After she cleaned them up and left the scene, you turned to me and said very seriously, "I did that on purpose -- I hate jelly beans." Later in Mrs. Weber's fourth grade class, the teacher moved my seat behind yours, and thus a best friendship was born, one that lasted all through high school. I cried when you fell off the monkey bars in Mrs. Mileski's fourth-grade gym class and had to go to the hospital. Remember when I called your house later and your sister told me (or at least this is how my 9-year-old ears heard it), "She broke her head." Later my mom let me come visit you, and I brought you crayons and construction paper from Badt's Pharmacy. (Don't worry, my mom paid for them.) A million memories, things known only to the two of us. Even when we spoke in October, I was still your Gina Badina, and you were still my Susie Shoosie. The same things that cracked us up in the single-digit years cracked us up in our 30s and 40s. Remember in high school when we stayed with Mark and Vicki in Grand Rapids, and while the two of them were at work, we opened and ate the chocolate turtles my mom intended as a housewarming gift? We were so obnoxious, and proud of it! And yet I'm weeping like a fool as I type these words. Thank you for being a part of my life, for teaching me to drive in the parking lot of Hilltop, for giving me enough laughs and memories to last until we see each other again. Pray for us, Susie Q, and I'll pray for you. I love you and will make you proud. See you in Heaven, Gina
