George Rudolph Wright Sr.

George's Obituary

George Rudolph Wright, Sr. was born May 4, 1928 in Chicago, IL to James Wright and Sarah Pitner.  While growing up in Chicago, George took on many jobs, which included working in the Hilton Hotel and parking cars at Comiskey Park.  In 1953 he met the love of his life, Poochie.  In 1955 they married and soon thereafter moved to Covert, Michigan.  Together they raised 13 children.  George worked at National Motors in South Haven in various capacities for 28 years before retiring.  He later worked as a custodian for Covert Public Schools.  George was well-known and loved throughout the Covert-South Haven area by many people.  George was known by his loud voice and his sense of humor. George was also known as the man who was frequently seen walking down the streets of Covert.  George enjoyed watching and playing baseball, as well as playing the lottery and visiting casinos. 

George was preceded in death by his wife, Poochie, parents James and Sarah, and a brother Marvin (Snuffy). 

George and Poochie leave to cherish their memory, children; Jose (Jessie) Tyler, Shirley Laws, Yvonne Laws, Michael (Sandra) Laws, Phillip (Jackie) Laws, Debra Wright, Diane Wright-Chillers, George (Renee) Wright, Jr., Cynthia (Amarjit)Singh, Laverne ( W.C.) Askew, Curtiss (Betsy) Wright, Betty (Tony) Mosely, Jerry (Ebony) Wright; 28 grandchildren, 33 great-grandchildren, 6 great-great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

A visitation will be held Sunday, December 9, 2012 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Filbrant Family Funeral  Home.  Funeral services will be Monday, December 10, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at Faith Evangelistic World Outreach Ministry, located at 67885 Eighth Ave., South Haven, MI.  Burial will be at Covert Cemetery.  Kindly share your thoughts and memories on the family’s online guest book at http://www.filbrandtffh.com/">www.FilbrandtFFH.com.
