Carl's Obituary
Carl Robert VanWy, 47, of South Haven, died Wednesday, May 1, 2013in Peoria, Illinois. He was taken doing what he loved – driving his truck. He was born November 22, 1965 to Edgar and Annie Mae (Murphy) VanWy in Allegan. Carl married his high school sweetheart Lisa Cox on June 25, 1982 in South Haven. Carl proudly served his country in the United States Army for ten years including Operation Desert Storm. Carl was a member of the American Legion Post #49. He loved to ride his Harley Davidson Motorcycles. Carl worked as a truck driver for thirty years and owned his own transport business – Golden Dreams Trucking.
He is preceded in death by his grandparents – Carl and Myrtle VanWy and Van B. and Aislee Murphy; and brother – Jimmy Dean Cummins.
Carl is survived by his wife of 30 years – Lisa (Cox) VanWy; sons – Neil (Tiffany) VanWy and two granddaughters – Kaylei and Kasidy VanWy of Coloma and Chris (Sam) VanWy; his parents – Edgar and Annie Mae VanWy of Breedsville; brother – James (Nikki) VanWy of Grand Junction; sister – Anna Marie Worden of Garden City, Kansas; brother – Robert (Wendy) VanWy of Breedsville. A large extended family also survives.
Visitation will be from 5:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. on Monday, May 6, 2013 at the Filbrandt Family Funeral Home of South Haven. Funeral services will be Tuesday, May 7, 2013 at the funeral home at 2 P.M with Rev. Dr. Renee Hibma officiating. Carl will be laid to rest at Stephenson Cemetery in Casco Township. A luncheon will follow services at the American Legion. Contributions may be made in Carl’s memory to the Wounded Warrior Project, P.O. Box 758517, Topeka, KS 66675.
