I think what everyone remembers about Kris is that sense of humor. He was razor sharp-he could look at a person or a situation and nail with such a precise turn of a phrase. In a word, he was hysterical. And it was that fabulous sense of humor that kept him going after the accident. He also had spirit and endurance. He found strength in himself that most of us cannot begin to touch.

Acceptance and understanding are two very hard words to deal with. To accept God's will and to understand God's will are even harder barriers to overcome. Knowing Kris was able to accomplish both the acceptance and understanding of God's will for him is a testament to his courage and spirit that should live on throughout the ages.

Kathy and family,
I was so sorry to hear about Kris. We had lost touch over the years, I haven't actually lived in SH for 28 yrs., but for 10 of those I was around most weekends and would see him regularly. What happen 30+ years ago would have totally devastated some, but not Kris. He was going to walk, talk, drive and have a normal of a life as he could - and he did. I have always had the utmost respect for him and his determination, possibably stubborness to overcome.
One thing knew was that whenever I saw him I would always get that "Kris smile". He will be missed by many, he touched a lot of lives. My thoughts and prayers to you and your family. Rest in peace my friend.

So very sad to hear of Kris passing. Bill went to school with Kris and I had my very first crush on him back in the Spastic Plastic days. Funniest guy I ever met. He was truly a gift and will be missed by all I'm sure. May he rest in peace, love and prayers to the family.

Dear Kathy, Stub and the entire Overhuel family,
My thoughts and prayers are with you at this time. I know Kris had gone through alot in his short lifetime but still was able to keep that infectious smile of his. My heart goes out to the entire Overhuel family...my friends for 50 years. Stub said I was the one that nicknamed Kris, The Duper..actually I never called him anything else ! What a life of challenges following his near fatal car crash, but he persevered and overcame struggles that most of us wouldn't. He will be missed, but remembered always. I am sorry that a previous commitment will prevent me from attending his service...

My sincere condolences go out to Kris' family. He was a great friend of my dad's. I can still remember him getting up at my dad's funeral and sharing his heart felt story of how my dad helped him with his sobriety. Of course Kris said something to make everyone laugh....he was good at that. I can picture my dad with open arms welcoming him into the gates of heaven. Thank you Overhuel family for choosing Stepping Stones for the memorial contributions that are being given in Kris' honor. I know you are in for some very hard days but I pray that you will find joy and peace as you share your memories of Kris.

Kris truely was one of a kind. I have many memories of him, first as a friend of my parents then as a friend of mine and then as one of the fathers of my kids friends. As many have said he always had a huge smile to greet you with. I will miss that smile. Thoughts and prayers to a wonderful loving family that it has been my pleasure to know.
