Phyllis's Obituary
Phyllis Elaine Knittel, 77, of South Haven, entered her heavenly home on Tuesday, April 22, 2014. She was born February 21, 1937, to Kenneth and Lenna (Day) Brodhagen in Traverse City, MI. She married Roy Knittel on November 27, 1953. Phyllis was a faithful member of St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church of South Haven. Serving her Lord as an active member of Ladies’ Aid for over 50 years, she was affectionately known as “Mrs. Ladies’ Aid.” Phyllis was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. She never turned down an opportunity to help someone in need or to share her faith in her Savior, Jesus. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Robert and Jack Brodhagen; her husband of 59 years, Roy Knittel; and two granddaughters, Kayla Knittel and Kelsey Hunt.
Phyllis is survived by her three children – Lynn (Larry) Sellnow of Wyoming, MI, Nancy (Todd) Hunt of Newton, NC, and David (Deb) Knittel of Grove City, OH; eight grandchildren – Angela, Stephanie, Megan, Rachel, Sydney, Nicole, Zachary, and Lucas; and five great-grandchildren. She is also survived by a brother – Dick (Gail) Brodhagen of South Haven, and sister – Sandy Weideman of Elkhart, IN.
Visitation will be held from 5-8 PM on Friday, April 25, 2014, at the Filbrandt Family Funeral Home in South Haven. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 PM on Saturday, April 26, 2014, at St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church in South Haven with Pastor Stephen Daley officiating. Phyllis will be laid to rest at Chambers Cemetery in Geneva Township. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church or Hospice at Home.
