Michael's Obituary

Michael Dee Seroke, 69, of South Haven, passed away on Thursday, September 18, 2014 at the University of Michigan Medical Center in Ann Arbor. He was born January 19, 1945 to Robert and Clara (Harsch) Seroke in Benton Harbor. Michael graduated from South Haven High School in 1963. Michael served his country in the Army National Guard. Following his discharge, Michael attended Lake Michigan College in Benton Harbor and earned his Associates Degree. He was then employed at Bohn Aluminum for over twenty years, Palisades for several years, and then as a designer at Trelleborg before his retirement.

Michael was well known as an avid runner in South Haven. He enjoyed watching sports and also coached his daughter’s soccer and softball teams. Michael had a love for the outdoors and spent much of his time working in his yard. He could be seen nearly every night watching the sun set with one of his dogs – Deja, Waffette, or Mimi. Mike was an active member of St. Paul Lutheran Church. His faith in God grew as he regularly attended church and bible study.

He is preceded in death by his father – Robert Seroke.

Michael is survived by his mother – Clara Seroke of Petoskey, MI; children – Tayler Seroke of South Haven and Chris (Hollie) Heiser of Baroda, MI; three sisters – Paula (Ronald) Arnold of Monee, IL, Peggy (Thayer) Chilson of Petoskey, MI, and Jackie (Terry) Moore of Saginaw, MI; grandsons – Peyton Heiser and Tyler Sholes; former spouse – Sandy Seroke.

Visitation will be held from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Monday, September 22, 2014 at the Filbrandt Family Funeral Home of South Haven. Visitation will also be held from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM on Tuesday, September 23, 2014 at St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church. Funeral services will follow visitation on Tuesday at 3:00 PM at the church with Pastor Stephen Daley officiating with a luncheon to follow. Contributions may be made in Michael’s memory to St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church and School.
