Carolyn's Obituary

Carolyn Denise (Demski) Dembczynski was called home to be with her Lord and Savior on Wednesday, September 16, 2015 at the age of 55 with her family at her side.

Carolyn was born on June 6, 1960 to the late Chester and Jeanette (Cichon) Dembczynski in Benton Harbor, Michigan. She lived her youth in Sodus, MI and graduated from Eau Claire High School. She received her Bachelor’s degree from Western Michigan University in Elementary Education. She taught First grade at St. Stanislaus Catholic School in Dorr, MI for three years before receiving her Master’s Degree in Special Education from Western Michigan University. Carolyn was a Special Education Teacher and Behavior Intervention Specialist for 28 years with South Haven Public Schools.

Carolyn also taught second grade CCD at St. Basil Catholic Church for 20 years. Her faith has always been at the center of her life. Carolyn had a great love for family and friends and treasured the time spent with them. She was often like a second mother to her nephews and niece and their love for each other was endless. Carolyn enjoyed golf, photography, and most of all, living her life in faith.

Carolyn is survived by her siblings Jim (Debbie) Demski of Coloma, David Dembczynski of Chicago, Patty (Mark) Anderson of Galesburg, nephews Jonathan (Corrie) Demski, Jacob Demski, Eric Anderson, Evan Anderson, and niece Katie Anderson.

Celebration of Life will be held at Filbrandt Family Funeral Home where family will be receiving those whose lives Carolyn touched on Friday, September 18, 2015 from 4:00 - 8:00 with a Rosary being prayed together at 7:00 PM. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, September 19, 2015 at 10:00 AM at St. Basil Catholic Church with Rev. Father Robert Flickinger officiating. Internment, following Mass, will be at Riverside Cemetery in Kalamazoo, MI with a luncheon to follow at The Fountains, 535 S. Riverview Drive, Parchment, Michigan 49004.

In lieu of flowers, Carolyn requested memorials to be made to St. Basil Catholic Church or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
