He is also survived by three sisters-in-law; Sue (Russ) Latham, Kathy (Paul) Lesnefsky, and Carol (Jack) Ballish, and brother-in-law John (Leslie) Cahill and father-in-law Frank (Pat) Cahill.

Bob was born in East Chicago, Indiana on October 7, 1958 to John and Helen (nee Kipta) Kolas.

Bob attended St. Thomas More School and Munster High School  in Munster, Indiana. He graduated in 1980 from the University of Notre Dame.

Bob married Nancy (Cahill) on June 16, 1999 on Mackinac Island.

Bob spent 30 years traveling to high schools in Michigan, selling science supplies.  Bob felt fortunate to have represented Flinn Scientific for the last 20 years.

A gentle giant, happiest when he was out of doors, Bob enjoyed a lifelong love affair with fishing.  He could be found most summer days on the shores of the Black River in South Haven with his brothers and friends.  He often shared his passion and expertise with tourists young and old, some who returned year after year.

In the past ten years, Bob and Nancy spent hours in the woods and fields of SE and SW Michigan and along the shores of their beloved Lake Michigan, birding.  Bob was a skilled and proud birder, a true bird nerd.

Bob and Nancy spent many sun drenched days at their little red cabin in the woods in the Terrace Park neighborhood of South Haven, MI.
