William Wayne Montgomery

William Wayne Montgomery, 85, of South Haven, passed away Monday, January 18, 2016 at the Grace of Douglas Nursing Home in Douglas. He was born February 9, 1930 to George and Myrtle (Cronister) Montgomery in Dover, Arkansas. Wayne served his country in the United States Navy during the Korean Conflict. Following his service, Wayne worked at Epworth Manufacturing in South Haven for 35 years before retiring in 2007. Wayne married LuLa Phillips on July 5, 1952 in Blythville, Arkansas. He was a member of the United Pentecostal Church.

He is preceded in death by two sisters – Moselle Eubanks and Wanda Tripp.

Wayne is survived by his wife of 63 years – Lula Montgomery of South Haven; children – Gary (Melissa) Montgomery of South Haven, Billie Montgomery of Chilhowie, Virginia, and Sharon (Dan) Filbrandt of Ishphming, Michigan; siblings – Frank (Treva) Montgomery of Hartford, Mary Webb of Bradford, Arkansas, Fay Imler of Paragould, Arkansas, and Shirley Fink of St. Louis, Missouri; Seven grandchildren – Stephanie (Dwight) Sheltrown, Tim (Julie) Filbrandt, Rachel (Andrew) Kallionen, Kevin (Shawnee) Montgomery, Ben (Tiffany) Filbrandt, Brian (Erika) Montgomery, and BJ Montgomery. Seven great grandchildren also survive.

Visitation will be held from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Thursday, January 21, 2016 at the Filbrandt Family Funeral Home of South Haven. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, January 22, 2016 at the United Pentecostal Church of South Haven with Rev. Phillip Haner officiating. Wayne will be laid to rest in Lakeview Cemetery in South Haven.
