Pompeii's Obituary
Pompeii McKeever, 62, of South Haven, passed away Tuesday, July 5, 2016, at Bronson Methodist Hospital in Kalamazoo. Pompeii was born December 5, 1953 to Habakkuk and Johnetta (Battle) McKeever in South Haven. Pompeii graduated from Bangor High School in 1971. He served his country in the United States Army and National Guard. He was proud of his service in an Army Tank Division. He married Carrie Buck on August 20, 1994 in Lacota, Michigan. Pompeii worked at Palisades Nuclear Plant as a security guard and later worked at Sherwin Williams Paint in Holland until 2003. Pompeii enjoyed playing guitar, wood working, gardening, cooking, and making people laugh. He also loved acting in plays. Pompeii was a member of Emmanuel Community Church.
He is preceded in death by his parents and brother, Ronnie Savage.
Pompeii is survived by his wife, Carrie and his daughter Chelsea McKeever of South Haven, Michigan. He is also survived by his sisters – Monique Savage of Adrian, Michigan and Betty Culross of Honolulu, Hawaii.
Visitation will be held from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM on Friday, July 15, 2016 at the Filbrandt Family Funeral Home in South Haven. Pompeii will be laid to rest at Monks Cemetery in Geneva Township. A celebration of life will be held at 2:30 P.M. on Wednesday, August 3, 2016 at the American Legion Post #49 in South Haven. A benefit dinner will follow services at the American Legion at 4:30 P.M. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the McKeever family at 1076 S. Bailey Avenue, South Haven, Michigan 49090.
