Doug Murdoch was a true gentleman in all aspects of the word---such a kind, loving, and respectful man who loved his family with his whole heart. We are grateful that he was given a peaceful passage to reunite with his parents, Jim, George, John, and Lucille. We made a special trip to South Haven in October 2015 to visit with Doug and MaryLou. They were so kind and gracious and even prepared lunch for us when we arrived. Later in the evening we ordered pizza and while we visited with Jack, Deb, and Doug, Mary Lou joyfully played and danced with Cameron at the Tasting Room at the Vineyard. We are more than happy that we took time to travel to South Haven and for Cameron to meet his great uncle. We cherish these precious memories. Please accept our deepest condolences and sympathy. He will be deeply missed by many and most assuredly us.

I meet Doug and MaryLou when I moved here in 1980. He was and still will be a man who can bring a smile to your face. The Wednesday night golf league will not be the same without him.

Mr. Murdoch ruled West Ottawa with a firm hand, but I feel blessed to have known his caring heart and soft-spoken demeanor during many overnights and dinners at the Murdoch table (Mr. Murdoch's burps included). My prayers are with your family during this difficult time. He was a great man and worthy of respect. Jim, so many good memories!

My greatest sympathy to the Murdoch family. Mr. Murdoch was my History Teacher at Tecumseh High School. In 2007 I invited Doug and Mary Lou to come to the 1957 50th. Class Reunion. They came and we had a very nice visit. He will be greatly missed.

To Mary Lou and the Murdoch Family. We were saddened to hear about Doug's passing. We remember him fondly at First Presbyterian Church of Holland. To this day, we make a pancake breakfast on Sunday morning on the church canoe trip. Some of us still remember that Doug started that tradition. I know you will miss him terribly but that memories will keep him alive in your hearts. Hugs and prayers to you all.

We have shared many meals with Doug & Mary Lou and the Murdoch clan while helping with the winery. Doug was such a kind gentle soul. We will miss seeing his smiling face around the winery and his sweet wave as we traveled pass the house to get our Christmas tree from the farm. Prayers to the entire Murdoch family.

He and Mary Lou were very kind to me during a very trying time in my life. They showed me love and respect. They trusted me to work at their home and stay there, and they gave a young immature, troubled teen hope. I'm beyond sad. I was able to visit with them twice as an adult and he was just as kind--- once with my wife and Isabella and another with my father in law.

Sorry to see that Doug has passed away. I moved to the Holland area to teach at West Ottawa when the building on 136th Avenue was the Junior/Senior High School. Doug was Assistant Principal and eventually became the Principal. He retired and I don't think I saw him again until 2011 when several of us were invited to the 40th class reunion of the class of 1971. Had a good time and laughed a lot. My condolences to all his family and friends.

Mr. Murdock ' s Smile IN THE Paper Is The essence of his style. He always treated his students with kindness, was willing to help in any way. All of the above with a great sense of humor. He will be remembered by many of us as a role model and example of how to lead young men and women. Our condolences to the family we know he will be sorely missed. He awaits all of us in the house of God the father.

On behalf of my Class of 1958 at Tecumseh High School, I send our deepest sympathy to Marylou and the whole family. Mr. Murdoch was my history teacher and he and Marylou came to our 50th high school reunion at Adrian College August 9, 2008. He was definitely one of my favorite teachers.

Doug will be missed by all of CASCO but always remembered for his acts of generosity and kindness. Our boys benefitted from his generosity by the numerous Christmas trees he donated to Troop 2 of Fennville and his overwhelming willingness for them to turn a good deed and come and hep Jim take leaves from his home. We are grateful for his willingness to make the Parks and Recreation committee part of CASCO forever for the future of our community to always enjoy. Our hearts go out tot he family in this time of sorrow and prayers for comfort are on their way and may they feel the warmth of this community in the cold wintry air. Thanks be to God for his part in our world and for making Christmas a greener one in our home for years!!!

We extend our sympathy to Mary Lou and the entire Murdoch Family. I had the pleasure of working with Doug at West Ottawa for 20+ years. As a Principal he was firm but fair. As a friend he was fun to be around. He will be missed but not forgotten.

So sorry to hear of Doug's passing. I was hoping to see Doug in Florida this winter. I got to know Doug & Mary Lou at Leisure Acres in Sebring, Florida. They were both regular attendees at my exercise class at Leisure Acres. I know and I think they enjoyed my regular surprise visits to their mobile home. We would have great conversations. Doug loved Mary Lou and demonstrated his love for her by his support of her in our golf league. I especially remember the short time Doug allowed me to give them a wake up call at 7:00AM to be sure they got to my exercise class on time. In 2015 we stopped and visited Doug & Mark Lou as we were returning from the Detroit area to Wisconsin. He arranged for his son to keep the winery open an hour later so we could see the winery. He also took the time to show us their home He was a champion of a man and I will miss him..
