Arthur's Obituary
Arthur Ray Overhuel, 70, of South Haven, passed away Tuesday, February 21, 2017 at his home under Hospice care. He was born October 1, 1946 to Raymond and Shirley (Underwood) Overhuel in South Haven. Art graduated from South Haven High School with the Class of 1965. He married Janet Krieger on May 20, 1972 at the Methodist Peace Temple in Benton Harbor and shared 44 years of marriage. Art was a former General Manager for Betten Chevrolet in Muskegon and was a third-generation owner of Overhuel Motor Sales which was established in 1946. Although Art was interested in classic cars, his pride and joy was his Corvette, “Sharky”. He especially enjoyed traveling with Corvette Coventry of Southwestern Michigan, who he considered his second family. Art honorably served his country in the United States Air Force. He was a member of the Loyal Order of the Moose, Elks Club, VFW, American Legion, Corvette Coventry of Southwestern Michigan and was an avid fan of University of Wisconsin football.
He is preceded in death along with his parents by a brother – Kris Overhuel and bother-in-law – Bob Teske.
Arthur “Stub” is survived by his wife – Janet Overhuel of South Haven, siblings – Kathy (Roger) Acerra and Diana Teske both of South Haven, aunt – Katherine Kirchner of South Haven, and many nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Life with Military Honors will be held at 1:00 PM on Saturday, February 25, 2017 at the American Legion Post #49, 129 Michigan Avenue, South Haven, Michigan 49090. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Art’s memory to Hospice at Home, 05055 Blue Star Highway, South Haven, Michigan 49090 or the Al-Van Humane Society, PO Box 421, South Haven, Michigan 49090.
