Dear Jan and family... This is truly heartbreaking. Stub was the nicest guy in the world. Everybody's friend. Of course, as a classmate, we knew him from age 5 or 6. Classes together, Boys State reps together, basketball together, football together, (our wide receiver #86). You even signed my yearbook...twice. Stub is one of the best people. Hope to see you someday in Heaven. Barry

Jan, Cathy and Deege- we are so very sorry about Stub. He was really one heck of a good guy. I remember him giving me advise when I was way younger. He was loved by many many people because of his kindness and happy spirit. My heart is heavy today and I will forever remember growing up with the Overhuels as neighbors and good friends. Love to all of you.

So long, Stub. You were one of the first people I met when I moved to South Haven in '77. Became fast friends with you, your dad, Ray, your brother, Chris, and your good friend Rich B. You recommended Chris to paint my motorcycle. Always, always enjoyed the many classic cars you owned. Most of all, I enjoyed your laugh, your smile and your handshake every time I'd stop in and see you. Good bye, old friend.

Jan, Kathy and Deeg, So sorry to hear of Stub's passing, He always had a warm smile and hug for me any time. Sandy G. (Popp) and I used to drive him nuts at the dealer, but he always gave us kind brotherly advice and told us to stay out of trouble. He will be missed. If the weather holds, I will try to make the service. If not, I will be thinking of you all. \", 0, 0,"

My dear friend, "You have slipped the surly bonds of earth and touched the Face of God." That alone gives me such comfort during this time. We have had a strong and enduring friendship for nearly 50 years. That bond was established as members of the Strategic Air Command of the United States Air Force. Not only did we serve together, but were roommates at Griffiss Air Force Base in New York; and then through good fortune, we both served at Osan Air Force Base in the Republic of South Korea. I could write a book together about our military service years. The Strategic Air Command Motto was, "Peace is our Profession." Art always lived that motto whether in this nation or abroad. We took our duty to the Nation with the utmost seriousness. We shared many difficult days and many wonderful days. No matter the situation, Art was always able to find the humor in any situation. Even when we were on the DMZ between North and South Korea for heavy weapons training, he made us laugh at taking ice cold showers and then returning to a tent in deep snow with nothing but a towel around us. One of my fondest memories was going to visit his wonderful, amazing family in South Haven on a three day break. They all treated me like family and gave a much needed taste of home. I cherish the memoires of those long drives with such fun at the end. Jan, Art never failed to talk about your unconditional love for so many years each and every time we spoke. We would both laugh and say that we married diamonds among women. He too always shared how much your love had meant to him and how you sustained him during his final time on this earth. Our thoughts and prayers are with you and the entire family, not just during these difficult days, but always. Thank you for your extreme kindness each time I called to talk with Art. One of the Air Force's mottos was, "Aim High." Art aimed high in everything he did. His tremendous faith that he was not afraid to share, either in person or on social media, says so much about the kind of man he was. He never forgot a friend, nor a friend him. He was nothing short of honorable in every respect. I know without a shadow of doubt that he now dwells with the "Most high." To leave this earthly life and enter into the presence of God is the ultimate goal and hope of any believer. His body has been made new and he simply awaits those he loved and cherished. God be with you, Jan and family.

To all the relatives of Stub, especially Jan and Kathy, our hearts go out to you and our prayers are with each and every one of you during this difficult time. May time heal the hurt and may your Memories fill your heart. Stub was such a good, kind and funny guy and he will surely be missed by all who knew him. He always had a kind word for everyone and a smile on his face. We may have spelled our last names differently but we always considered you family and always will. Stub, you will truly be missed by all who knew you. You lit up a room when you came in and could always make everyone smile and laugh. I'm so sorry we never got around to having that Overheul/Overhuel reunion that you and I talked about so many times. I know you really wanted to have one. Maybe one day when we have joined you in Heaven, we can have it up there with everyone that has passed before us. We know you are with God now and in a better place and with your friends and loved ones who have passed before you. Jan and Kathy, Iβm sorry I wonβt be able to attend Stubβs funeral due to my severe health issues. But Mike will be attending and giving my condolences to everyone plus his. May God wrap his arms around all of you and keep you during this time of sorrow. Know that Stub is now an angel looking down and watching over you today and forever. And smiling with that wonderful smile he had. Rest in Peace my dear cousin. You will be missed by all.
