David William Paull

David William Paull died peacefully on May 21, 2017 with his wife, Grace Paull, and their dog, Jade at his side. Dave was at South Haven Nursing and Rehabilitation where he was receiving care for complications from heart disease and diabetes. The nursing and therapy staff had become members of his extended family.

David was born in Columbus, Ohio on September 5, 1947 where he was adopted by Frank and Marjorie Paull. Frank was a civil service employee and Marjorie was an elementary school teacher. The Paull family lived in 22 different places around the country by the time David graduated from Northern Michigan University in 1967.

David married Grace M. Wank on August 20, 1970 in Garden City, Michigan. They came to South Haven in time to start the 1970-71 school year where David began his 31 year teaching career at Central Middle School.

Dave’s son, Michael David Paull (b.1979,) and daughter, Kate Marjorie Paull (b. 1984), joined the household and grew up in South Haven, between the Black River and the Lake Michigan Beaches. They have since been joined by their partners, Katy Paull (nee Schepers) and Justin Mix, and their children, Hazel Grace Paull (b.2013) and Jude Mix (b.2015).

Dave loved his family, his dogs, his home, and his adopted hometown, the City of South Haven.

The City of South Haven will be hosting a public memorial reception in the City Hall Council Chambers, 539 Phoenix Street on Friday, June 2, 2017 from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM.
