Deepest condolences to your family. John was my first longtime editor in 1987 and he published my columns, βOf Songprints & Pinewoodsβ in TODAYβS CATHOLIC for 12 years. He was a true gentleman, very courteous and considerate of his writers. Shortly after he retired and moved to Michigan, he sent me a beautiful note telling me how much he enjoyed my columns and that was so unexpected. I still have that dear letter, and think nostalgically of the wonderful years we worked together at the newspaper.
