Bob was one of the special people who held the doors open to Epiphany when, during difficult times, there was such a small number in the church. He and Joan could be counted on to literally open the church doors every Sunday. He lovingly cared for the building for so many years that he knew all quirks of an old church building. You could ask him anything and he knew where it was. He also kept the stories of the church so that all of us newbies could understand Epiphany ‘s rich history. But mostly I will remember Bob for his special ministry of claiming the unclaimed. Burials for the cremains of forgotten people in South Haven that we would lovingly have funerals and burials for in our memorial garden. I bet there was much rejoicing in heaven now that all those souls could thank him in person for his loving service to them. We already miss him so much.

Bob was a dear man who could be counted on to lift spirits in so many ways for the Church of the Epiphany family. A kind, gentle, humorous, tender, loving and deeply spiritual man - I always felt so content and happy in his presence. He lit the way for many others there - holding space for newcomers through his embracing welcome and by telling the history of the church. He is already deeply missed and his spirit will always be amongst us. I consider myself so utterly grateful to have known this great man. My heart and prayers are with Joan and his family and friends.

¬I want to express my sincere s¬¬¬ympathy for the loss of your loved one and share the hope promised in the Bible. Jesus promised that “those in the memorial tombs will…come out.” (John 5:28, 29) In harmony with God’s original purpose, those resurrected as humans will have the opportunity to live on a paradise earth. (Luke 23:43)This promised future includes perfect health and everlasting life for obedient humans. The Bible says: “The righteous themselves will possess the earth, and they will reside forever upon it.” (Psalms 37:29)
