Grampsy Daggett was skilled at flying beautiful kites in front of his north beach home. To Nick, Sarah, Bev, Dad, Cathy and Tom ~ He loved his family and I know all of you will miss him dearly! I am sorry for your loss.

I am so thankful Dad and I could join your Dad for his last McDonald's coffee outing last Thursday. He was one of the kindest men we have ever known and he will be missed. Thoughts are prayers are with all of you.

Dear Daggett Family...your Dad was a friend to South Haven over many generations. And he was a good and loyal friend to my Dad too. Seems like when the "locals" lose someone, we all lose them too. I guess you could say South Haven is losing its "greatest generation." For those of us lucky enough to be raised here, we forever have the memories and values of John and all of our folks. May he be at peace, enjoying a good hand at that poker table in the sky. Love to you and yours...PJ Canonie-Bubin

To the Daggett Family.... The memories of this interesting and good man will always linger. The days at South Haven Golf Club were the best ever...in which John and Hy Warshawsky played such major roles. A member of the greatest generation for sure. Rest in peace Mr. Daggett!

Kathy and Beverley Thought that you would like to know that a special coffee gathering took place today at McDonalds. It was lead by, of course, Ivo Knapp and Jerry Sherman. They were joined by most of the usual Octogenarians’. As you would expect, your Dad was the topic of talk. He will be missed.

John was our friend and neighbor for decades. He was a kind and gentle giant as a man, husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. As a local businessman, John and his family literally helped build the foundation of the South Haven we know. He seemed to truly love South Haven and his rich childhood history filled with stories of how he lived his life in the community he grew up in. He was known and respected by everyone as a friendly, active, invested and involved town citizen. John was congenial with a warm and contagious laugh and was interesting to listen to. But, true to his nature, he was always more interested in you and learning about your life and your family and children. He regularly greeted me with "Hi Tom, how ya doing? And he meant it. John loved to play golf with his "budies". Many years ago, John and his oldest and best friend, Hy, would get me out on the South Haven golf course and brag to his friends with stories of how well I played. He always thought I was better than I really was...that was John! In John's passing away, South Haven has said goodbye to a good man of wonderful stature who with his family was a pillar in the foundation of the community, leaving behind a lasting legacy. And I , along with my family and relatives have lost a friend and a special neighbor, who has left behind wonderful memories. Tom and Ellen Kaplan Lois Goldfein

Cathy and Bev, God bless you both as you grieve the loss of your dad. He will certainly be missed by my dad Gerry Sherman and their coffee group. I was so happy to get reacquainted with your dad in the last few years whenever we visited South Haven and joined them for their morning ritual :).

Mr. Daggett was a positive influence in my life. Always upbeat, grateful for all his blessings...he was a terrific friend of my dad's.. I saw John recently and we reminisced about old times and teaming up in Indiana...when we won the golf tourney...thanks to my brother Jerry's hole in one...92 years of real living life...celebrate his journey, the grieving will wane.

Anyone who knew John was a better person for being around him. I attended school with his kids, worked under his care at Daggett's Concrete, golfed with him, sat on his porch and watched the fireworks over the lake...... great times with a great person. Thanks!

We were so sorry to learn of “Uncle” John’s passing. He played a huge role in our family’s lives. If my dad (Ken Grieves) hadn’t come to South Haven to visit his favorite Army buddy John, he never would have met my Mom (June) who was good friends and worked with John’s wife Pat. Much of my memorable childhood in South Haven was spent at the Daggett’s house on Prospect, and then later, on Green Street. Then they bought the house on the North Beach, just 2-doors away from our cottage. Many of my South Haven friends were the result of spending time with Cathy (Daggett) Thaler and her friends and neighbors. Thanks Cathy! My wife Toni and I always enjoyed running into Uncle John around town. He had a million-dollar smile and always an encouraging word. He was truly an inspiration and will be dearly missed.
