Thelma's Obituary

Thelma Della Henry-Davis, 78, of Covert, passed away Sunday, March 3, 2019 at her home under Hospice Care with her family by her side. She was born August 24, 1940 to Sterling and Endia (Bingley) Neal in Pine Bluff, Arkansas. Thelma worked for Covert Public Schools as the business secretary from 1976 until her retirement in 2004. She also served as the middle school cheerleading coach, and worked as a nurse at the Watervliet and South Haven Community Hospitals. Thelma loved making jewelry and was an avid doll collector.  She volunteered her time at the Covert Museum where she served on the board. Thelma was a contributor to the Covert Community Church’s Personal Care Pantry. She will be remembered as a strong-willed woman and she did it her way.

She was preceded in death along with her parents by her first husband – Jack Henry and sister – Margie Howard, and brothers – Curtis, Sterling, and Edward Neal.

Thelma is survived by her husband – Fred L. Davis, children – Veronica Henry of Covert and Charles Henry of Gulf Port, Mississippi, siblings – Joyce (Plato) Smith and Barbara (Geoffrey) Rose both of Covert, and grandchildren – Salanda Mabbins, Alona Henry, Jason Henry, Crystal Henry, April Wilburn, Rickie Wilburn, and Chas (Shariez) Perry. A host of nieces and nephews also survive.

Wake will be held from 12:00 Pm to 1:00 PM on Saturday, March 16, 2019 at the Filbrandt Family Funeral Home in South Haven. Memorial services will follow the wake at 1:00 PM at the funeral home was Pastors Bobby Walker and Plato Smith officiating. Thelma will be laid to rest at the Covert Cemetery.
