David's Obituary
David Lee Henry, 65, of South Haven, passed away Wednesday, April 10, 2019 at his home surrounded by his family. He was born April 9, 1954 to Robert and Valda (Wolfgang) Henry, Sr. in Douglas, Michigan. David worked for Louis Padnos Iron and Metal for 33 years as a supervisor before retiring in 2016; however, his passion was in being a volunteer firefighter for the South Haven Fire Department/SHAES for 37 years. David retired from the Fire Department in 2016 achieving the highest rank possible as Lieutenant. He also received the Medal of Valor in 2005.
David loved his family and friends. When he wasn’t working or at a fire, he was there supporting his wife and children. He loved attending the various sporting events and art programs for his children. He was truly one of their greatest fans. David was also very fond of his friends. He enjoyed spending time with them whether it was just for a cup of coffee or taking motorcycle trips.
Besides the love for his family and fire department, David loved fishing, particularly walleye in Aubrey Falls, Ontario, Canada. This was a family tradition begun nearly one hundred years ago by his grandparents.
David was known for his selfless acts of kindness for anyone in need. He loved to help others. Sarcasm was his most fluent language. He loved a good joke and his smile and laugh were contagious.
He is preceded in death by his grandparents and father – Robert Henry, Sr.
David is survived by his wife of 33 years – Victoria Henry of South Haven; children – Rob (Ashley) Henry, Stephanie (Steven) Troutman, Kristina (Jimmy) Lindemulder, Joanne (Brady) Smith; step-son – Mark (Michelle) Mayou, III; mother – Valda Henry; brother – Jim (Susie) Henry; special father-in-law – Mark Mayou; and grandchildren – Domanick, Austin, Mackenzie, Ryan, Jayden, David, Carter, Noah, and Aubrey.
