I enjoyed working alongside Velma at the telephone company many years. She was a dear friend and also a lifelong friend of my eldest sister.

My condolences to the family. My mom, Janet Reid, considered her a friend. I remember visiting with her at River Ridge.

I can’t even express how much Velma meant to me. We are cousins, but more than that, we are friends. I love her very much. Heaven gained what we have lost.❤️

Velma and I would always have a quick chat when she was on her walks and she would always fill me in on what her children and grandchildren were up to. . We were all sorry when she had to move out of her house on Cherry St. because we missed seeing her on her daily walks.

I just loved Velma. During the months that I was hospitalized, she sent me a card or note every day! She was a very thoughtful Christian lady and did a lot of socializing with my mother & me,

When I started working for GTE Velma was a repair clerk, she was alway a friendly person. Even years later she remembered the days we worked together. A true lost to our community.

Mike and family, I was shocked and saddened to read of your mother's passing. I had been visiting with her at River Ridge for months, and she was always so much fun to talk to. We would remember the past days when we would both visit an "older" friend at Countryside. We often met at the Moose when we were both donating blood. She was such an active woman, and so kind to everyone. She was so proud of her family. I will really miss our visits. God speed, Velma. Sue Williams Scott

Velma was a strong member of Scott Club for 22 years. I would visit her when she slowed down and take her to the $ store and visit-visit-visit! We will miss this energetic and kind woman.❤️

I knew Velma through First Congregational Church where she was particular friends with my mom, Gerry Rood. She and Cliff also helped my dad on his farm during one harvest at least. She was a friendly, competent person, a part of my childhood in the 1970s. My condolences to the family.

Velma was my dad Ken’s high school sweetheart and first wife. Their break up during WWII broke their hearts and changed their lives forever. Of course I wouldn’t be here at all if that hadn’t happened. I got to know Velma in the last part of her life and was touched by her fond memories of my dad and her gratitude toward me for contacting her. I will always remember our visits and reminisces with love. Thank you for including pics of Velma and Ken in the video. My condolences to her sons and entire family.
