In 2018 Al reached out to me on Ancestry.com. My grandfather George W. Shumaker was his cousin. George's dad and Al's dad were brothers. I loved collaborating research with him. He seems so happy and joyful. Always a pleasure to chat with. A little over a year after my grandfather George W. Shuamker passed away I noticed Al still had him listed as living in his Ancestry Tree. So I reachdd out to Al via email. The email failed. I wasn't sure what to think because he didn't communicate a change of email. I did a Google and saw he had passes away. Crushing. When doing Genealogy Research you connect with people that are distant relatives and although sometimes you have or have not met, it still hurts when they pass. I hope he fulfilled his research goals before he passed. I will miss him.
