Dear Janet, Diane and Laurie, Your mother was the one person out of my mother's friends that always said hi to us 'kids' when we were growing up. She was always upbeat and true to her faith. The world needs a lot more 'Ellies.' Jan

i wanted to tell you girls what a good friend your mother was. From potlucks in jr high and high school, to gatherings with your family after Christmas, after the parade or for the Derby, or bridge, lunches etc with the '45 girls. You mother was always smiling and fun to talk to. I enjoyed her visits to Saint Joseph Dr in recent years when 'the gang' had dwindled to just us. May she rest in peace and may you girls take comfort in knowing she is now in heaven. Mary

I met Ellie through volunteering at the hospital. She was the kindest sweetest person I have ever met. We used to bake muffins each week to have with our coffee during our break. She was like a breath of fresh air and always had a smile on her face no matter where you saw her or when. I am so saddened to hear of her passing but I feel so blessed to have known her

Janet, Di, and Laurie, I am so saddened about Ellie's passing. Since I knew her all the way back when I was a kid, I have a million memories of your mom. She was such an influence, and a force of nature! I read in the obit the part about how she gave up her college plans in order to take care of her brothers. That strikes me as very "Ellie": service to others, gracious, friendly, kind-hearted, and never flustered in the face of all our monkey business. I know you will miss her terribly, but please know that she had a meaningful impact on my life. Wishing you strength at this time (as Ellie would want!).

Laurie, Diann, Janet and families, I am so sorry to hear your mom has passed away. She was such a wonderful person. I last remember her strolling the beach in SJ when my sisters Martha & Laura were visiting in the summer. “Ellie” was a good friend of my aunt, Ruth Frobel, and when she died Ellie got a nursing scholarship fund established in her name at Memorial (Lakeland), which is still benefitting students each year. Ellie used to speak at the scholarship event held each June on behalf of our family since we aren’t in the area any more. Many other wonderful memories and I am so sorry for your huge loss. MaryLou.

Aunt Ellie was a most kind, gracious and classy lady who deeply loved her family, community and church. We will never forget how welcoming and generous she was to everyone at family gatherings over many years. She will be greatly missed, but we hope that all who knew her will be comforted by their special memories.

Ellie (Mrs. Grimm early on to me!) was our backyard neighbor. I spent hours at her house playing board games with her daughter Jan and riding her horse Sweetheart. She was always very welcoming to me and I still remember her strolling down Silver Beach later on in life when she would come up and surprise my sister Laura and me during our annual summer vacation in St. Joe. She had a great laugh and always a sparkle in her eye. Jan and sisters

I’ll never forget first meeting Mrs. Grimm when my family moved to Brown school Road in 1969. I was introduced to Janet and became friends with her, and therefore spent a lot of time at Janets house. Elle had the most contagious laugh and I just loved playing at Janet’s house sometimes in a pile of leaves in the backyard. Then when they moved over by Jefferson school, I remember attending a big annual bash they used to throw every year. She was the consummate hostess. She has brightened heaven today with that wonderful laugh and reunion with her family. Sending hugs to all.
