We encourage you to share your most beloved memories of R. Patrick here, so that the family and other loved ones can always see it. Share your favorite stories or comment on those shared by others.
We are deeply saddened by Pat's passing. We have been friends and neighbors for 25 years. My late husband Larry and Pat use to exchange jokes in the driveway while Pat was passing through. He and Julie would cook their special recipes and share them with us. We loved him. He will be missed. You (Pat's family) are in our thoughts and prayers.

Let us ponder well the lessons of this hour. We are born, we live, we die. Let us so live as Brother Carnahan, that when our dissolution draws nigh, the entrance to the dark valley and shadow of death may be illuminated by the conciousness of a well-spent life and the hope of a glorious immortality. Fare thee well dear Brother, Fare thee well.

Carnahan family: "Pat" & Dixie had some of the best Christmas Parties in South Haven. We always will remember winter here as the best because of Pat.

I worked for your dad, and with Jill, at Hardt Insurance in the 1980s. I have good memories of working at Hardt and remember your dad's smile and energy. In later years, I would run into him at Village Market while he was gathering the ingredients for whatever meal he was excited about preparing.

Pat, sorry to hear about “Pops”; seems like just yesterday we were all sitting around the table at the cabin, after a fine meal he prepared, enjoying his never ending stories. I will truly miss him ! Fran and I will keep you and your family in our prayers.

This really hits home. A much-liked and respected member of the Hardt Insurance family. Personally I remember Pat as an always joyful man. And I'm still grateful to him for selling me my first car. Because he sold it to me for $100! The next morning, after my dad gave me "the speech" about "always be aware when you're behind the wheel"...he then proceeded to back-out of the garage and smash it mightily... Oh well,...Dad had a great insurance man...and partner.

So sorry to hear that South Haven has lost another one from it's greatest generation. Pat was always available with the time for an explanation and a smile in times of trouble. He will be missed.

While among so many who did not enjoy paying property taxes, Pat was always kind, courteous, and encouraging toward me as I carried out my duties at city hall. Rest well Pat.

Rick and Kathy,
Your Dad was a special person who I will always remember fondly. As a little kid (and even when I got older) I always looked forward to seeing "Uncle Pat."
