My sincerest condolences to your family. Even though I hadn't been in touch with Rusty since I was a child begging him for candy at the fair, we were reconnected just around 6 months ago. He shared with me stories of his life and his family and proudly spoke of his little grandson. I'm a missionary and he had been financially supporting the work I'm doing since that day, which truly blessed my heart. Even though he was a little rough around the edges, Rusty had a sincere heart to help people, to GENUINELY help people that needed it. And I'm so glad I got to reconnect with him, if only for that short time. Your family is in my prayers.

Few words can do justice in describing Rusty and his impact on my life and my family. Although he is gone much too quickly, I feel lucky to have memories to cherish for years to come. His humor, especially those one liners, brightened my day countless times and I will always remember him winging around the fairgrounds in his golf cart, making people smile. He touched my life deeply, just as I know he touched the lives of many others.

So sorry to learn of Rusty's passing. I have many memories of horse shows and fair weeks with Rusty. He was one of the most loved barn superintendents (sorry Dad!), between the candy he always had for kids and laughs/jokes to share with adults. Rusty was truly apart of my experience showing horses at VBYF and I know it wouldn't have been nearly as fun without him. Always willing to lend a hand, fix something or assist with a horse. We have all been blessed and lucky to know Rusty.
